They believe that experiences, especially difficult experiences, can and do serve as a portal or ‘transformation’ device.
We created over 100 icons and glyphs which are used in many ways.
I felt like the brand needed a serif and also a sans serif, which feels almost unobtrusive because there are so many other elements to the brand.
The Brand Identity’s 'The Edit' highlights five new branding projects from global studios, including Sasyk Mihal’s rave-inspired identity for Page Break, Parker’s Palm Springs–infused skincare brand 760 Skin, Sylvan Hillebrand’s bold work for ARTIZSOUL, U.I.WD.’s sentimental rebrand for fashion house MIXED, and MEK’s science-driven identity for impact investment firm Understorey. Each project showcases distinct visual strategies, from expressive typography to nature-inspired palettes.
The Brand Identity’s interview with Europe-based freelance designer Sasyk Mihal explores his journey from early beginnings in Prague to working at Sagmeister & Walsh and building a thriving freelance career. Mihal discusses his process-driven approach to branding, his love for creative freedom, and his reflections on the Czech design scene. He highlights his project for Mythical State Of as a key example of his design philosophy and shares insights into balancing work, travel, and personal growth.
Prague-based designer and art director Sasyk Mihal developed a multi-faceted, nature-inspired identity and website for Mythical State Of, an online store and journal for outdoor enthusiasts. The project features a custom typeface, over 100 icons and glyphs, and a bold red-led color palette that reflects transformation and natural forms. Supporting typefaces Roobert, Tobias, and a customised Vivaldi complement the brand’s expressive, maximalist aesthetic.
